Cesamo Tours – Local guide Cesar Miranda can take you out for some amazing hikes to waterfalls, mountain tops and the wilderness of the Santa Fe National park. Panama Guiding Services – Experienced naturalist interpreter and botanist, specializing in birding, plant identification, treks in The Santa Fe National Park, agricultural and ethno-botanical tours. Tours are in 4×4 and on foot. Contact Graham at 6720 0628 or visit their web page to learn more.

Night Tours by Hotel Santa Fe – Edgar Toribio, who runs Hotel Santa Fe, has a sixth sense for spotting animals, which are especially active at night. Well recommended, please call Edgar 954 0941 or go to  to arrange your tour.

Tours by Coffee Mountain Inn – Guided tours and adventures including Santa Fe National Park, Coffee Farms, Horseback Riding and River Tubing. Prices range from $15-50pp Call 6988 0921 or go to to arrange your tour.

Other tourist attractions:

Organic farm of Chong & Maria – quaint little family farm where everything is grown organically. While Chong gives you a tour, Maria can prepare you a home-grown lunch. Tours cost $8 per person with lunch. Very popular attraction, be sure to call Maria in advance: 6525 4832 (Spanish only)

Cafe Tute – this coffee roaster is run by the town’s farmers cooperative, and the factory as well as the coffee plantations can be toured. Freshly roasted whole bean coffee can be bought here. Tours cost $5 per person and can be arranged by contacting the Cooperative at 954 0737, but it is usually better to show up early morning in person.

Williams’s Tube rental – Rent an inner tube for $7.00, and float down the river until you reach the beginning of town. The trip lasts about 75 minutes and passes through a series of rapids, and ends at a footbridge near Hotel Santa Fe. Or go further downstream for a half-day tour. Contact William Abrego (tel. 6583 5944). His rental place is about a mile outside of town on the Rio Bulaba.

Casa de Orquideas – The orchids house. One of the most prolific orchid growers in the area, Bertha Castrillon welcomingly opens her house to tourist and show you all her beautiful flowers. It is a private home, so visiting is a hit or miss. If the gates are closed, come back another time.
